To enter the Sweepstakes, leave a comment on the Adopt-a-Pet.com Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter accounts with a pet adoption story and tag the organization you adopted your pet from (each comment is considered a “Submission”). If the organization mentioned in comment does not have a social media account just including the organization name counts as part of the Submission.  At the end of the Sweepstakes Period, Twenty-Five (25) Winners will be randomly selected from all eligible Submissions received during the Sweepstakes Period, as more fully set forth below. One (1) Winner will also have a donation sent to the organization he/she tagged in their Submission. By participating in the Sweepstakes, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Humane America Animal Foundation, d/b/a Adopt-a-Pet.com, 310 N. Indian Hill Blvd., #800, Claremont‎, CA ‎ 91711, (“Sponsor”), which shall be final and binding in all respects.

ELIGIBILITY:  The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry.  Officers, directors and employees of Humane America Animal Foundation d/b/a Adopt-a-Pet.com (“Sponsor”) and its parents, subsidiaries, licensors, affiliates, sponsors, partners, distributors, retailers, sales representatives, advertising and promotion agencies (all such entities and individuals referred to collectively herein as the “Promotion Entities”), and the immediate family members and/or those residing in the same household of each are ineligible to enter the Sweepstakes or win a prize.

HOW TO ENTER:  During the Sweepstakes Period, comment on Sponsor’s Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram page (http://facebook.com/adoptapetcom, http://instagram.com/adoptapetcom, http://twitter.com/adoptapetcom), and tag the organization you adopted your pet from. Submissions must be received by the end of the Sweepstakes Period.  Any personal information collected by Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes will be used in accordance with its online privacy policy, located at http://www.adoptapet.com/public/privacy_policy. Proof of submission is not considered proof of delivery to or receipt of such entry.  Sponsor shall have no liability for any Submission that is lost, intercepted or not received by the Sponsor.

If you choose to enter using your mobile device, standard data fees may apply. You should consult your wireless service provider’s pricing plan for details. You agree to incur any and all charges demanded by your wireless carrier. You should also check your device’s features for capabilities and check the device manual for specific use instructions.

By entering, each entrant warrants and represents the following with respect to entrant’s Submission: (a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the Submission; (b) the Submission will not infringe on any rights of any third parties; and (c) any third parties included in the Submission have given entrant appropriate consent to be included in the Submission in accordance with these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to request releases from any third parties included in any Submissions at any time. Failure to produce third party releases upon Sponsor’s request may result in disqualification, as determined by Sponsor is its sole and absolute discretion.

WINNER SELECTION: Sponsor (in its sole discretion) will select the Grand Prize winner from all eligible Submissions received during the Sweepstakes Period.  The Prize winner will be notified through direct message on the platform he/she posted to (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter).  Sponsor shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by the potential winner for any reason.  If any potential winner does not respond within the time required by Sponsor, or if the winner notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to any potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit his or her prize and an alternate winner may be selected.

REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES/INDEMNIFICATION:  Each person who enters this Sweepstakes (and his or her parent or legal guardian, if the entrant is under the age of majority in his or her state/province of residence [a “minor”]) represents and warrants as follows: (i) the Submission is the entrant’s own original, previously unpublished, and previously unproduced work; (ii) the Submission does not and will not violate or infringe upon the intellectual property rights or other rights of any other person or entity; and (iii) the Submission does not and will not violate any applicable laws, and is not and will not be defamatory or libelous.  Each entrant hereby agrees to indemnify and hold the Promotion Entities harmless from and against any and all third party claims, actions or proceedings of any kind and from any and all damages, liabilities, costs and expenses relating to or arising out of any breach or alleged breach of any of the warranties, representations or agreements of entrant hereunder.

PUBLICITY RELEASE:  By participating in the Sweepstakes, in addition to any other grants which may be granted in any other agreement entered into between Sponsor and any entrant in or winner of the Sweepstakes, each entrant irrevocably grants the Promotion Entities and their respective successors, assigns and licensees, the right to use such entrant’s name, likeness, biographical information and Submission, and any individual(s) participating therein, in any and all media for any purpose, including without limitation, advertising and promotional purposes as well as in, on or in connection with the Website or the Sweepstakes or other promotions, and hereby release the Promotion Entities from any liability with respect thereto.

RANDOM DRAWING/ODDS: Winner(s) will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received on or about two (2) weeks after the conclusion of the Sweepstakes Period or the date listed in Sponsor’s Giveaway Post. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received for the drawing. Drawing will be conducted by Sponsor or a Sponsor representative. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, which will be final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes.

GENERAL PRIZE CONDITIONS:  No cash alternative or prize substitutions will be allowed, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize(s) or opportunities or comparable out-of-pocket cost value if any prize or opportunity listed is unavailable, in whole or in part, for any reason.  The Prize winners shall be solely responsible for all federal, state and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the Prize.

GENERAL LIABILITY RELEASE/FORCE MAJEURE: Entrants agree that the SPONSOR, THE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM (I.E, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND/OR INSTAGRAM) AND THEIR ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONS AGENCIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE PARENT COMPANIES, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, PARTNERS, REPRESENTATIVES, AGENTS, SUCCESSORS, ASSIGNS, EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS (COLLECTIVELY, “RELEASED ENTITIES”) (a) shall not be responsible or liable for any losses, damages or injuries of any kind (including death) resulting from participation in the Sweepstakes or any Sweepstakes-related activity, or from entrants’ acceptance, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of the prize(s), and (b) have not made any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to the prize(s), including, without limitation, to such prize’s quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Entrants will indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Released Entities from and against all third party claims arising out of or relating to Entrant’s Submission. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any damage to an entrant’s computer system which is occasioned by accessing the Website or participating in the Sweepstakes.  Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or the Website and/or the Entry Site, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.  These Official Rules cannot be modified or amended in any way except in a written document issued in accordance with the law by a duly authorized representative of Sponsor.  The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.  In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.

ADDITIONAL TERMS: Any attempted form of entry other than as set forth above is prohibited; no automatic, programmed; robotic or similar means of entry are permitted. If You Like Helping Dogs Find Homes, You’ll Love Our Loyalty Program

Nearly 3.1 million dogs end up in shelters every year. So we created the PEDIGREE® One True Loyalty Program. How it works is simple: if a customer spends $25 on Pedigree food or treats, we’ll pay for their dog’s adoption. They get a dog and all their loyalty, the dog gets a much needed home, and you’re able to place another dog in need. It’s another small step in Pedigree’s long standing effort to help end dog homelessness.

*Purchase $25+ of PEDIGREE® products, adoption fees up to $200, 50 U.S. and DC only, valid 5/1/22 to 12/31/22 for Dollar General customers or 7/1/22 to 10/31/22 for customers of other retailers.

Uvalde, TX – Support Needed

We know so many of you are at capacity already, but in this difficult time we are sharing a plea we received in our Adopt-a-Pet inbox from The Humane Society of Uvalde, Texas:

“Without much explanation, I think you may understand why our community is having difficulty with our ability to focus on our pets, at the moment. Right now, our community is broken. We were already at capacity & the dogs just keep coming into animal control. HSU rescues as many as possible and has a program, Flights To Furever, which transports pets to Buffalo, NY area rescues.

In addition, HSU partners with other rescues. Our partner rescues accept pets from our city animal control directly into their programs. We could really use some more rescue partners now.

Rescues can go to Friends of Uvalde Animal Control Page (on Facebook), if they would like to become a rescue partner. Rescues can comment on a certain pet, message the page or email flightstofurever@yahoo.com to get more information. Thank you for your consideration.”

Seresto® Circle of Love Grants Are Back!

Why are these pups so happy?! Could it be because the 2022 Seresto® Circle of Love grant program is now open for applications? Our wonderful friends at Seresto® are helping us once again with $100,000 in product grants for shelters and rescues in the Adopt-a-Pet.com network. Seresto® collars can help keep dogs and cats protected from fleas and ticks for 8 continuous months. That’s eight full months where you can focus on other aspects of animal care. Grants will be awarded to shelters and rescues caring for cats or dogs while they are waiting to be adopted. Thank you to our compassionate sponsor Seresto® for their part in making these grants possible!

Tip: Read all the grant application rules carefully before applying. The first deadline is May 31st, 2022.

Kitten Season Resources

Adorable baby kitten showers aside, kitten season can be overwhelming and heartbreaking for those of us in the shelter and rescue world. To support you and your community, here are some new and old favorite resources: First, our free and easy-to-understand “Baby Kittens – from Found to Adopted” five-page PDF you can share with any kitten finders. Next, for shelter and rescue staff and volunteers, our friends at Maddie’s Fund present a webcast on Austin Pets Alive!’s groundbreaking kitten program. In part 1, learn how to start and build a bottle baby nursery. In part 2, learn how to create a foster program for neonates. Finally, they also offer “Caring for Orphaned Kittens” a self-paced CE course, “useful to both seasoned foster parents and those just getting started saving lives.” We hope these resources help all of you working the front lines of kitten season!
