Sharing adoptable pets on Facebook

If you are with a shelter or rescue and are looking for our “Facebook (Static HTML app) instructions” – Facebook has discontinued support of that feature. Please use either method below to share your My Pet List or individual pets.

You can save a life right now by helping shelter pets get seen on your favorite social networking sites!

  1. Use AdoptaPet.com to search for a dog, cat, or other pet that needs a home.
  2. Choose a pet you want to help from the results. Click on the pet to see their full page.
  3. On the pet’s page, click on a social media button to help the pet get seen and adopted! They look like this:
If you want to help a specific shelter or rescue, you can share that organization’s entire pet list on Facebook! Here’s how:
  1. Go to https://www.adoptapet.com/animal-shelters and search for shelter or rescue.
  2. Click on a shelter or rescue name in the results list.
  3. Copy their URL from your browser. The URL will look like https://www.adoptapet.com/shelter/ and then some numbers. (On an iPhone, “copy” is from the center share icon at the bottom).
  4. Log in to your Facebook, and create a post. Paste their URL so there will be a clickable link, and type why you are sharing those pets!

Shelter Animals Count (SAC) released the Q3 report from 2022, with data from the Intake and Outcome Database and the Community Services Database. By participating in the Sweepstakes, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Humane America Animal Foundation, d/b/a Adopt-a-Pet.com, 310 N. Indian Hill Blvd., #800, Claremont‎, CA ‎ 91711, (“Sponsor”), which shall be final and binding in all respects.

ELIGIBILITY:  The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry.  Officers, directors and employees of Humane America Animal Foundation d/b/a Adopt-a-Pet.com (“Sponsor”) and its parents, subsidiaries, licensors, affiliates, sponsors, partners, distributors, retailers, sales representatives, advertising and promotion agencies (all such entities and individuals referred to collectively herein as the “Promotion Entities”), and the immediate family members and/or those residing in the same household of each are ineligible to enter the Sweepstakes or win a prize.

HOW TO ENTER:  During the Sweepstakes Period, comment on Sponsor’s Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram page (http://facebook.com/adoptapetcom, http://instagram.com/adoptapetcom, http://twitter.com/adoptapetcom), and tag the organization you adopted your pet from. Submissions must be received by the end of the Sweepstakes Period.  Any personal information collected by Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes will be used in accordance with its online privacy policy, located at http://www.adoptapet.com/public/privacy_policy. Proof of submission is not considered proof of delivery to or receipt of such entry.  Sponsor shall have no liability for any Submission that is lost, intercepted or not received by the Sponsor.

If you choose to enter using your mobile device, standard data fees may apply. You should consult your wireless service provider’s pricing plan for details. You agree to incur any and all charges demanded by your wireless carrier. You should also check your device’s features for capabilities and check the device manual for specific use instructions.

By entering, each entrant warrants and represents the following with respect to entrant’s Submission: (a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the Submission; (b) the Submission will not infringe on any rights of any third parties; and (c) any third parties included in the Submission have given entrant appropriate consent to be included in the Submission in accordance with these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to request releases from any third parties included in any Submissions at any time. Failure to produce third party releases upon Sponsor’s request may result in disqualification, as determined by Sponsor is its sole and absolute discretion.

WINNER SELECTION: Sponsor (in its sole discretion) will select the Grand Prize winner from all eligible Submissions received during the Sweepstakes Period.  The Prize winner will be notified through direct message on the platform he/she posted to (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter).  Sponsor shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by the potential winner for any reason.  If any potential winner does not respond within the time required by Sponsor, or if the winner notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to any potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit his or her prize and an alternate winner may be selected.

REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES/INDEMNIFICATION:  Each person who enters this Sweepstakes (and his or her parent or legal guardian, if the entrant is under the age of majority in his or her state/province of residence [a “minor”]) represents and warrants as follows: (i) the Submission is the entrant’s own original, previously unpublished, and previously unproduced work; (ii) the Submission does not and will not violate or infringe upon the intellectual property rights or other rights of any other person or entity; and (iii) the Submission does not and will not violate any applicable laws, and is not and will not be defamatory or libelous.  Each entrant hereby agrees to indemnify and hold the Promotion Entities harmless from and against any and all third party claims, actions or proceedings of any kind and from any and all damages, liabilities, costs and expenses relating to or arising out of any breach or alleged breach of any of the warranties, representations or agreements of entrant hereunder.

PUBLICITY RELEASE:  By participating in the Sweepstakes, in addition to any other grants which may be granted in any other agreement entered into between Sponsor and any entrant in or winner of the Sweepstakes, each entrant irrevocably grants the Promotion Entities and their respective successors, assigns and licensees, the right to use such entrant’s name, likeness, biographical information and Submission, and any individual(s) participating therein, in any and all media for any purpose, including without limitation, advertising and promotional purposes as well as in, on or in connection with the Website or the Sweepstakes or other promotions, and hereby release the Promotion Entities from any liability with respect thereto.

PRIZES: The Grand Prize winner will receive a Chewy Birthday Box (goody box) containing a scarf, treats, and pet toys. RANDOM DRAWING/ODDS: Winner(s) will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received on or about two (2) weeks after the conclusion of the Sweepstakes Period or the date listed in Sponsor’s Giveaway Post. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received for the drawing. Drawing will be conducted by Sponsor or a Sponsor representative. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, which will be final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes.

GENERAL PRIZE CONDITIONS:  No cash alternative or prize substitutions will be allowed, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize(s) or opportunities or comparable out-of-pocket cost value if any prize or opportunity listed is unavailable, in whole or in part, for any reason.  The Prize winners shall be solely responsible for all federal, state and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the Prize.

GENERAL LIABILITY RELEASE/FORCE MAJEURE: Entrants agree that the SPONSOR, THE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM (I.E, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, AND/OR INSTAGRAM) AND THEIR ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONS AGENCIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE PARENT COMPANIES, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, PARTNERS, REPRESENTATIVES, AGENTS, SUCCESSORS, ASSIGNS, EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS (COLLECTIVELY, “RELEASED ENTITIES”) (a) shall not be responsible or liable for any losses, damages or injuries of any kind (including death) resulting from participation in the Sweepstakes or any Sweepstakes-related activity, or from entrants’ acceptance, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of the prize(s), and (b) have not made any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to the prize(s), including, without limitation, to such prize’s quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Entrants will indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Released Entities from and against all third party claims arising out of or relating to Entrant’s Submission. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any damage to an entrant’s computer system which is occasioned by accessing the Website or participating in the Sweepstakes.  Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or the Website and/or the Entry Site, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.  These Official Rules cannot be modified or amended in any way except in a written document issued in accordance with the law by a duly authorized representative of Sponsor.  The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.  In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.

ADDITIONAL TERMS: Any attempted form of entry other than as set forth above is prohibited; no automatic, programmed; robotic or similar means of entry are permitted. Released Entities are not responsible for technical, hardware, software, telephone or other communications malfunctions, errors or failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, web site, Internet, or ISP availability, unauthorized human intervention, traffic congestion, incomplete or inaccurate capture of entry information (regardless of cause) or failed, incomplete, garbled, jumbled or delayed computer transmissions which may limit one’s ability to enter the Sweepstakes, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participating in this Sweepstakes or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, extend or suspend this Sweepstakes should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes. In such case, Sponsor may select the winners from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or web site. Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Sweepstakes or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or Sponsor representatives.

If You Like Helping Dogs Find Homes, You’ll Love Our Loyalty Program

Nearly 3.1 million dogs end up in shelters every year. So we created the PEDIGREE® One True Loyalty Program. How it works is simple: if a customer spends $25 on Pedigree food or treats, we’ll pay for their dog’s adoption. They get a dog and all their loyalty, the dog gets a much needed home, and you’re able to place another dog in need. It’s another small step in Pedigree’s long standing effort to help end dog homelessness.

How Much Water Should a Dog Drink?

Uvalde, TX – Support Needed

We know so many of you are at capacity already, but in this difficult time we are sharing a plea we received in our Adopt-a-Pet inbox from The Humane Society of Uvalde, Texas:

“Without much explanation, I think you may understand why our community is having difficulty with our ability to focus on our pets, at the moment. Right now, our community is broken. We were already at capacity & the dogs just keep coming into animal control. HSU rescues as many as possible and has a program, Flights To Furever, which transports pets to Buffalo, NY area rescues.

In addition, HSU partners with other rescues. Our partner rescues accept pets from our city animal control directly into their programs. We could really use some more rescue partners now.

Rescues can go to Friends of Uvalde Animal Control Page (on Facebook), if they would like to become a rescue partner. Rescues can comment on a certain pet, message the page or email flightstofurever@yahoo.com to get more information. Thank you for your consideration.”

Helping Cats with “Little Acts”

Kitten season is upon us and we want to make sure you have the tools you need to get through it. Applications are officially open for the “Little Acts, Big Help” Advantage® II Grant Program! With the help of our friends at Advantage® II we will give away $100,000 in product grants during Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat month.

Advantage® II flea control for cats works all month long to break the flea life cycle so you can protect the cats in your care and prevent an infestation. Grants will be awarded to shelters and rescues caring for cats while they are waiting to be adopted.

Thank you to Advantage® II, for their part in making these grants possible!

Tip: Read all the grant application rules carefully before applying. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2022.
